A radio hobbyist for almost 30 years, Eddie- K2EPM still
maintains a strong interest in scanning and amateur radio while dabbling
in SWLing and medium-wave DXing.
Eddie served three terms as the Vice President of the Long Island Mobile
Amateur Radio Club http://www.limarc.org,
one of the largest ham radio clubs in the country. He also spent several
years on the Board of Directors and several years as Hamfest Chairman.
Eddie's involvement with scanning goes back to the 70's where he became
educated in the hobby from folks associated with the Radio Communications
Monitoring Association (RCMA), later on Ed got involved with the North
East Scanning News (NESN) and The All Ohio Scanner Club (AOSC). It was
while involved with these organizations that Ed picked up an interest
in writing and started to contribute to their newsletters. From there,
Chuck Gysi got Ed to write an article for Radio Shack's "in-house"
magazine called RADIO and then Ed started writing for several now defunct
scanner periodicals.
Currently, Ed is a staff columnist with National
Communications Magazine, The All Ohio Scanner Club's American
Scannergram and authors many freelance articles for magazines
such as Monitoring
Times and Popular
Communications.
Other interests include spending time with his family, listening to classic
rock and new country music, and following the two New York Baseball teams
as well as the NASCAR circuit.
