Kulpsville Reflections (The Dark Side of the First SWL Fest)

BILL'S REFLECTIONS ON THE SWL FEST

© 2007 by Bill Cole N2CSA

I've spent 20 years trying to forget the first SWL Fest and you want me to write a few words about it?
When I dig back that far all I see are memory flashes and the weird pattern of the carpet..........especially the carpet with the blood and outline of the shooting victim in the lounge. Peg and the girls went to the 1st SWL Fest with me. We were impressed by the door to our room. It was repaired crudely not from being kicked in, but from some poor soul kicking it out from the inside while trying to escape. Friday's weather was freezing rain and snow. A combination that iced the roads. The pizza delivery man had to walk the last block because the car didn't have the traction to make it up the hill. Ah, a flash of the pink and purple Pancho Villa room, the sumptuous banquet of subs and the Sumo Wrestler guarding the keg. I won a prize in the raffle, a power strip. I couldn't claim it right away because it was in use powering various paraphernalia. The next day I had to hassle Bob Brown for it. The lasting effect of the 1st SWL fest was that Peg, Jen and Sarah refused to attend another.
